Welcome to PSA. Khush Amdeed! (link it to profound greetings!!!) Message Board Message of the Day: ( ßFlashing Effect!!!!) We encourage new students joining the UofH, TSU or HCC this semester to contact us and let us know with their specific problems and needs for assistance. This is first priority on our agenda. We shall be pleased to offer all possible assistance, such as complimentary transportation from airport, logistics, accommodation arrangements (including temporary stay arrangements), orientation, documentation and job-search. Also, any families interested in renting available accommodations to students from Pakistan are welcome to contact us. (August 2nd, 2003) Salaam Alaikum. Peace be on you, PSA is a nexus of human resources, academic activities and social events at University of Houston. It is a university-recognized official organization, with a well-defined charter and constitution, working under the auspices of UofH International Student Office (ISSO), established about two decades ago and very active since then. It has a conspicuous presence on campus and a comprehensive agenda, ranging from assisting the Pakistani community at UofH and any student in general (not limited to Pakistan origin only), on-campus and off-campus diversified activities to preserving our national identity and promoting the real magnificent image of Pakistan.. The PSA full-fledged "Jinnah Scholarships”, in offering for last 15 years, have benefited both Pakistanis and non-Pakistani deserving students at UofH. We are now streamlining these and also adding to the number of these scholarships awarded every year. Our recent efforts proved to bring forth a momentous new development in the scholarships structure. Extra-curricular programs as Food fairs, Movie shows and Excursion activities (especially the Lake Conroe JetSkiing, BBQ and Water Adventure in May) last semester were just few of the vibrant flavors of PSA. The PSA present executive committee comprises 2 alumnae, 3 grad students and 2 undergrads, all devoted and committed people, having shining careers and distinguished achievements. We have the kind support from past PSA presidents and members, alumnae, PAGH, PIB, and the Pakistan embassy and consulates. During the last one year, PSA has proved to be in one of its most active forms since its inception in 1985. The new revised PSA Agenda 2003 includes:
Our extra-curricular activities range from special campaigns, assisting new students (in orientation, accommodation, job search, etc.), movie nights with miscellaneous themes (not just limited to Pakistani movies), food fairs, cricket matches, picnics and excursions, etc., and last but not the least, the famous ANNUAL PSA SHOWs.
PSA is not restricted to the people with Pakistan origin only. It is open to everybody who knows about Pakistan, who likes it, respects it or is interested in it. Some of our members and patrons are not Pakistanis at all. We have members who are Pakistani, Pakistani American, Indian, Middle-eastern and American nationals. Nevertheless, PSA is very particular about its basic principles and strong roots in its homeland. We are countrymen who love our homeland - the great country called Pakistan, whose land has been known for thousands of years for its people with utmost hospitality, civilization and culture, and also known today as the fortress of Islam – and we are committed to it by our blood and soul. Pakistan is a nation of noble and patriotic people with proud history from early ages, having roots in Arabian, Persian, Afghan, Indian and Turkish empires, now all connected through the common threads of PAKISTAN and URDU language. That is why it becomes essential and our foremost priority to work for our country and our countrymen, the reason PSA exists. In short, PSA is a group of people, who work toward promoting a lively community of human souls on campus, interconnected by the nexus of PSA. General Information
